Job Summary: Teachers at French International are responsible for planning, organizing, developing
and implementing the French National Educational Curriculum within the IB Primary Years Program
framework, to support the mission of the School, and cultivate an optimal learning environment for all
students to feel successful. Teachers in collaboration with the pedagogical team (French, English,
Specialist and Student Support) and the PYP coordinator develop the programme and provide a unique
learning experience for students.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

 

Curriculum


● Design and implement instructional plans in accordance with the French International school
curriculum; including preparing progression and units. Provide an inclusive, caring environment
with respect to children’s individual differences.
● Master the French national curriculum and be up to date with the units of inquiry designed for
your grade level
● Maternelle only : Knowledge of developmentally appropriate activities for children and
knowledge of early childhood development.
● Pursue professional learning opportunities, to enhance knowledge, skills, and performance.

Teaching and Learning


● Co-teach lessons with homeroom teachers either in the classroom, the library, the maker space,
or other outdoor learning environments.
● Provide a dynamic learning environment for students.
● Be aware of and observe all legal mandates, school policies and regulations, administrative
procedures, and standards of professional conduct as outlined in the French International
Employee and All-School Handbooks.
● Communication with students is child centered, positive and promotes growth.
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills with families, including but not limited to:
parent teacher conferences, office hours, parent teacher meetings, email, progress report and
report cards.

 

Non-pedagogical responsibilities

● Provide appropriate supervision at all times for students under his/her care whether on or off
campus.
● Accept and carry out occasional additional responsibilities assigned by the administration, e.g.,
participation in school events, including but not limited to field trips (day and overnight), field
studies, overseas trips, dances, and other after-school activities. Including parent- teacher
conferences that could happen after school hours.
● Supervision duties as needed ( ie lunch, recess).
● Maintain current certifications for Oregon Child Care Division Central Background Registry,
Food Handler, CPR/First Aid certifications, and professional development hours in Oregon
Registry Online (ORO) - if applicable.

 

Minimum Requirements:


● Certification to teach the French national curriculum from France, or other francophone country
recognized by French International, native level fluency in French,
● 3 years international teaching experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:


● 5 years international teaching experience
● IB Primary Years Programme experience
● Bilingual in French and English

 

Physical Requirements:


● Mobility sufficient to move about the campus and assure the safety of young children.
● Ability to communicate with children, colleagues, and families fluently in French and sufficiently
in English.

Schedule:


● Classroom schedule is from 8am-3:30pm (Lower school) and from 8:15am- 3:15pm

division head.

The learning specialist collaborates with all stakeholders of the French International school of Oregon to foster an
inclusive learning environment for all students. They are part of the student support team at FI and have an essential
role in ensuring a learning environment that promotes well-being and academic success of all students in the French

Mission :
● The mission refers to the skills expected of a teacher holding theCAPPEI as defined by the BO 10 to 11
March 2021 by the MEN in the appendix to this document;

Essential Responsibilities:
1. The specialist teacher works in a specific professional context of an inclusive educational system:
● Participate in the development and implementation of an academic support plan (IEP) while respecting the
educational and administrative frameworks, both at the level of the French International School and the
State of Oregon, in partnership and collaboration with Maternelle and Middle School;
● Collaborate with other members of the teaching team to coordinate interventions, monitor and assess
student progress;
● Advise management staff, write reports with expertise, report evaluations, assessments and progress of
situations and make appropriate recommendations to support decision-making;
● Establish and maintain collaboration with partner organizations. Communicate with other relevant
stakeholders to obtain or provide advice and information. Direct the student or their parents to resources
appropriate to the situation and needs.


2. The specialized teacher is an expert in analyzing specific educational needs and designing plans of
support in response:
● Participate with the relevant teaching team (department, cycle, level, etc.) in the development and revision
of the student's intervention plan (IEP) including, if necessary, an action plan;
● Participate with teachers in the development and implementation of strategies and projects aimed at helping
students who present or are likely to present learning difficulties;
● Analyze, evaluate and monitor student progress;
● Design, develop and adapt materials according to the needs and abilities of the student. Choose the
intervention methods according to needs (groups, individuals, in the classroom or outside);
● Prepare files and ensure they are updated according to the rules defined by FI policies and protocols;
● Write and update monitoring plans (IEP) as well as the results of interventions and evaluate them.

3. The specialist teacher acts as a resource for inclusive education in various situations:
● Be knowledgeable of educational systems in general (National Education and host country), the field of
special education and the schooling of students with special needs within the relevant legislation;
● Support and advise other school stakeholders and parents of students with learning difficulties; propose
strategies to intervene with these students, guide them in the choice of attitudes and approaches to facilitate
the learning process;
● Plan, organize and lead professional development activities;
● Advise and support school stakeholders regarding the inclusion of students into regular instruction and
suggest means of intervention or activities appropriate to the student's situation;
● Ensure the liaison between departments for the follow-up of files with all stakeholders and parents.

La personne ressource collabore avec toutes les parties prenantes de l'école Franco-Internationale de l'Oregon pour

Middle School Social Studies Teacher (Native French Fluency Required)


The French International School of Oregon seeks a full-time Social Studies Teacher for its middle school French language immersion program for the 2024-2025 school year. The Social Studies teachers’ primary role is to support the mission of the School by planning, organizing and implementing an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment to encourage students to develop and fulfill their personal potential.


The Middle School is recognized by l’AEFE and belongs to the MLF network. French International uses the International Baccalaureate (IB) philosophy as a framework for delivering our curriculum in a language immersion setting. It has 220 students and 25 teachers. It includes a large French department (50% of enrolled students) as well as English, German, Spanish, and Mandarin departments.


The Social Studies teacher will need to have experience in middle school and, preferably, abroad. Excellent level of written, read, and spoken English is required. The applicant would teach in French in an immersion environment. One should be open-minded, dynamic, and be able to prove competence in adaptiveness and communication. Additional experience in FLE or FSL would be an advantage, as well as certification in DELF and DALF. A high level of collaboration with other departments is expected.


Essential Duties:
• Participate as a faculty member in the activities of the School in ways that contribute to the attainment of its mission.
• Design and implement instructional plans for the student group or groups assigned to him/her in accordance with the official school curriculum as directed by the division head. This includes preparing a yearly plan for each class on ATLAS and unit planners.

Position Overview:
